The Great Outdoors

After years I had an opportunity to go on a little weekend camping, rafting and kayaking trip recently, thanks to a good friend. We camped by Lake Isabella past San Bernardino, in S. California. I swam quite a bit in the lake with temptations to swim across the lake though I avoided it for the fear of leg cramps. Lots of games, a good BBQ, and a very uncomfortable night at my old tent that hadn’t been unpacked in years.

The next day we rafted in 6-7 person rafts as well as in 1-2 person kayaks in class 2 & 3 rapids of Kern River. Nothing like the class 4-5 rapids of the American River in Northenr CA. But the weekend was a good reminder of my passion for the outdoors and water. It takes me to my childhood, to my hometown, Astara, the Caspian Sea, and the nearby mountains. I need to do more of it. An REI shopping trip is in the order before July’s Yosemite trip.
